31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
I know at critical points in your life things can be crazy and feel out of control. It’s easy to question where you’re at, why you’re there, what you’re doing and how all of those things influence your happiness. I want to encourage you today to consider the difference between joy and happiness.
Happiness is very much dependent on your circumstances. It’s temporary, it’s fleeting. Joy is independent of your circumstances. Joy exists regardless of what you’re going through. Joy is always present because it’s linked to God’s love for you and God’s love is not determined by your circumstances, your past, present or future. Its always present you can’t get rid of it no matter what you do, what you say, how you’re acting or the decisions that you’ve made.
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
You are victorious, you are a conqueror – because no matter what trial you are going through, no matter what obstacle you are facing, no matter who or what you believe that you have become, God loves you unconditionally and your circumstances can’t separate you from that love – the reality of that is true Joy.
So seek joy today, not happiness, and you’ll be LIFTED, finding wholeness and peace in Christ.
